Electro Polishing

Electro Polishing

Electro polishing is an electro chemical finishing process that removes a microscopically thin layer of metal from a component’s surface. The part is immersed in a temperature-controlled electrolyte and connected as the anode, so current dissolves surface peaks faster than valleys. The result is a smooth, bright, ultra-clean surface. It is essentially the reverse of plating, and it is most commonly used on stainless steel. At Balambiga Metal Finishers, we use electro polishing to improve both the performance and appearance of your components.

KeyBenefits

Smoother surface:

Reduces surface roughness and removes micro-burrs and fine imperfections.

Improved corrosion resistance:

Removes embedded contaminants and enriches the chromium-rich passive layer on stainless steel.

Easier cleaning:

A smooth, non-porous surface resists the build-up of bacteria, residue and particles

Bright, attractive finish:

Delivers a lustrous, uniform appearance.

Stress-free finish:

Unlike mechanical polishing, it does not smear metal, embed abrasives or introduce stress.

Works on complex shapes:

Reaches internal surfaces, welds and intricate geometries that are hard to polish by hand.
