Electroless Nickel Plating

Electroless Nickel Plating

Electroless nickel plating is a chemical process that deposits a uniform nickel-phosphorus alloy onto a component without using electric current. The coating forms through an auto-catalytic reaction in a controlled, heated bath, so every surface of the part, including edges, threads, blind holes, and internal bores, receives an even layer.

At Balambiga Metal Finishers, we apply electroless nickel coatings from 3 to 100 microns, in accordance with ASTM B733 and AMS 2404, so your components meet demanding industrial and aerospace requirements.

Why Choose Electroless Nickel?

Uniform thickness:

Consistent coverage even on complex geometries, with no build-upon edges.

Corrosion resistance:

Adense, protective barrier against moisture, chemicals, and harsh environments.

Hardness and wear resistance:

Heat treatment can further increase surface hardness and extend component life.

Low friction:

Reduces galling and wear on moving parts.

Tight tolerance control:

Predictable, thin deposits help maintain dimensional accuracy.

Versatile substrates:

Suitable for steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, brass, and more.

Coating Options

Low phosphorus Maximum hardness and wear resistance
Medium phosphorus Balanced hardness and corrosion protection for general use.
High phosphorus Superior corrosion resistance for aggressive environments.
